Chewton Glen Hotel

20 January 8.30 am -11am

As one of the top visitor destinations in the country, tourism businesses in the New Forest are thinking about sustainable business practices to improve their image and performance

Breakfast will provided on arrival.

This free network session will begin with a environmental legal update from John Mitchell of Blake Lapthorn. This will be followed by a presentation from  from Laurie Tennant of Engenius who will be looking at the types of renewable energy available to business owners and how to make this viable with use of the newly introduced Feed-In-Tariffs.

There will also be a presentation from Richard Barnett from The Barn Vegan Guest House in Ashurst. Richard and his wife established 'The Barn' in 2004 with the intention of producing a model for a sustainable tourism business. Hear how they went about lowering their energy and water consumption and considered the overall sustainability of what they do.

The meeting will conclude with a short presentation from Paul Jarvis of Chewton Glen Hotel and Spa who will present on ways Chewton Glen have been improving their sustainability credentials, whilst staying at the top of their industry. There will then be a brief tour of the premises to demonstrate sustainable business practises taking place within the hotel
